To begin to engage with mindfulness in a variety of ways.<\/h2>\n<p>We have some recommended actions and activities that will support introducing mindfulness in your setting. These ideas are just a suggested starting point and if other ways of introducing mindfulness would work better for your setting, please do that.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to keep a record of your development in introducing mindfulness to your setting\/school, you could build a <strong>MiSP<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/MiSP-Step-2-Pathways-Portfolio-Information.pdf\">portfolio<\/a> (optional) and you might collect evidence of these suggested activities or a record of your own ideas. A completed <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/MiSP-Step-2-Pathways-Portfolio-Information.pdf\">portfolio<\/a> will be needed to apply for Step 5 of the Pathways.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"collapsible-heading\"><a><span class=\"collapsible-before\"><\/span><span class=\"collapsible-text\">Suggested Activities<\/span><\/a><\/h3><div class=\"collapsible-content\" style=\"display: none;\"><div class=\"collapsed-content\">\n<p><strong>Suggested actions\/activities could include:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Staff focused<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Either a staff group attend a \u2018live\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/information-events\/\">Information webinar<\/a> or show the <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/information-events-pre-recorded\/\">recorded Information webinar<\/a> to staff<\/strong> in INSET time or a staff meeting.\n<ul>\n<li>Record the date of the Information webinar and the staff who attended<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Or a staff member who has completed an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/approved-8-week-secular-mindfulness-courses\/\">approved 8-week mindfulness course<\/a><\/strong> <strong>shares an &#8220;Introduction to Mindfulness&#8221; session<\/strong> with colleagues, parents, governors using Step 2 resources.<\/li>\n<li>Following an Information Webinar\/Introduction\/Taster, <strong>find out which members of staff would like to do an 8 week mindfulness course<\/strong> and explore possibilities for joining a course, online, via MiSPs <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/begin-eight-week-mindfulness-course\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span><span style=\"color: #274368;\">begin<\/span><\/strong><\/a> course.<\/li>\n<li>Or <strong>access the <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/map\/\">Teacher Maps<\/a><\/strong> to invite a <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/map\/foundations-teachers\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span><span style=\"color: #274368;\">b Foundations<\/span><\/strong> <strong>teacher<\/strong><\/a> to deliver a Taster in the setting and potentially explore options for running an &#8220;in-person&#8221; 8-week <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/b-foundations\/\"><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span><span style=\"color: #274368;\">b Foundations <\/span><\/strong><\/a>course.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hold a meeting with colleague(s) responsible for the staff wellbeing programme<\/strong> to explore how mindfulness training may support or be integrated with this programme.\n<ul>\n<li>Keep a record of the minutes from this meeting and any action points discussed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Staff member(s) who have completed <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/breathe\/\">.breathe<\/a> training attend .breathe <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/teaching-surgeries\/\">group mentoring sessions<\/a>.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Record the dates of sessions attended and who attended them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Staff member(s) who have completed an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/approved-8-week-secular-mindfulness-courses\/\">approved 8-week mindfulness course<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>attend MiSP <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/hub-sits\/\">Practice Group<\/a> sessions, <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/teacher-retreats\/\">One Day Retreats<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/skills-workshops\/\">Step 2 Skills Workshops<\/a><\/strong>, to support their developing practice.\n<ul>\n<li>Record the dates of sessions attended and who attended them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If more than one member of staff in school has completed an <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/approved-8-week-secular-mindfulness-courses\/\">approved 8-week mindfulness course<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>consider setting up a Practice group in your setting<\/strong>. Play recordings (links to recommended practices are in the Step 2 resources folder) and afterwards share what you noticed.\n<ul>\n<li>Record the dates of sessions attended and who attended them<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Student focused<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Attend a <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/schools-sit-together\/\">MiSP School Sit Together<\/a> with students.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Keep a record of the dates attended and which classes\/groups were involved<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Deliver a school assembly about mindfulness<\/strong>, presented by teachers or students, depending on experience.\n<ul>\n<li>Please include photos from the assembly in your portfolio and name the students\/staff involved in the assembly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Train to deliver <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/breathe\/\">.breathe<\/a> in your setting.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Include your MiSP certificate in your portfolio<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Bring in a <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/map\/\">MiSP trained mindfulness teacher<\/a> as an external provider<\/strong> to teach\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span><span style=\"color: #274368;\">breathe<\/span><\/strong>,<strong> <span style=\"color: #274368;\">dots<\/span><\/strong>, <span style=\"color: #274368;\"><strong>Paws<\/strong> <strong>b<\/strong><\/span> or<strong> <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span><span style=\"color: #274368;\">b\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>across one or more age groups.\n<ul>\n<li>Please detail the name of the mindfulness teacher and when the sessions were delivered and with which classes\/groups<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Create a mindfulness notice board or display<\/strong> in your setting.\n<ul>\n<li>Take a photo of the display to include in your portfolio<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>A staff member runs a meeting for students interested in finding out more about mindfulness.<\/strong> Ideas and questions are discussed. These sessions are open to anyone in a school or educational setting who would like to join in with an accessible mindfulness sit, suitable for beginners as well as more experienced groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please see our at-a-glance Pathways Model infographic <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/MiSP-Pathways-Infographic-4.pdf\">here<\/a><\/strong><br \/>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"collapsible-heading\"><a><span class=\"collapsible-before\"><\/span><span class=\"collapsible-text\">Join Step 2<\/span><\/a><\/h3><div class=\"collapsible-content\" style=\"display: none;\"><div class=\"collapsed-content\">\n<p><strong>You are on Step 2 of the Pathways when you have taken one of the following actions:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You are automatically on Step 2 when you complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/begin-eight-week-mindfulness-course\/\">.begin<\/a> course with MiSP<\/li>\n<li>When you complete a <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/b-foundations\/\">.b Foundations<\/a> course or another <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/approved-8-week-secular-mindfulness-courses\/\">approved 8-week mindfulness course<\/a> you join Step 2 when your application for Hub membership is accepted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>If you want to introduce mindfulness to students but don\u2019t have anyone trained to teach MiSP courses in your setting, please check our <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/map\/\">Trained Teacher Maps<\/a> to find teachers in your area.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<h3 class=\"collapsible-heading\"><a><span class=\"collapsible-before\"><\/span><span class=\"collapsible-text\">Thinking about Step 3?<\/span><\/a><\/h3><div class=\"collapsible-content\" style=\"display: none;\"><div class=\"collapsed-content\">\nThe intention of Step 3 of the\u00a0<strong>MiSP Pathways<\/strong>\u00a0is to<strong> <em>develop\u00a0a model for mindfulness taught in-house to students and\u00a0build a community to share coordination of mindfulness initiatives\u00a0within the setting. <\/em><\/strong>There are some things you can do to start to get ready for Step 3.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to keep a record of your development in introducing mindfulness to your setting\/school, you could build a\u00a0<strong>MiSP<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/MiSP-Step-2-Pathways-Portfolio-Information.pdf\">portfolio<\/a> (optional) and collect evidence of these suggested activities or a record of your own ideas. A completed <a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/MiSP-Step-2-Pathways-Portfolio-Information.pdf\">portfolio<\/a> will be needed to apply for Step 5 of the Pathways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Here are some suggested things you can do to GET READY for Step 3 of the Pathways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/course-schedule\/\"><strong>Book<\/strong><\/a><strong> onto a Train to Teach student course: <span style=\"color: #274368;\">dots<\/span>, <span style=\"color: #274368;\">Paws b<\/span> or <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">.<\/span><span style=\"color: #274368;\">b<\/span> <\/strong>\u2013 once you have developed your own practice for at least TWO months following the completion of an 8 week mindfulness course you can apply to train to teach students.
