Below is a summary of findings from 7 key papers published over the last decade and what MiSP learned from them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/mindfulness-in-education\/myriad-what-mindfulness-schools-project-learned\/\">The MYRIAD project is discussed separately<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The research into school-based mindfulness<\/b><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Most of the research has been focussed on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/the-evidence-base\/what-misp-learned\/b-research\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.b curriculum<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with one study each on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/the-evidence-base\/what-misp-learned\/paws-b-research\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Paws B<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/mindfulnessinschools.org\/the-evidence-base\/what-misp-learned\/b-foundations-research\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.b Foundations<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The papers were all published in highly respected scientific peer-reviewed journals.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They include research on outcomes of the programmes looking at various indicators of mental health and wellbeing, usually using self-report\/ questionnaire methods.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Several were <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">controlled trials (where one group receives the teaching and a parallel group does not) which is a high standard of evidence<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two recent papers explored the underlying neuroscientific mechanisms behind the changes and included an assessment of the impacts on cognition, particularly attention and impulsivity.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One paper looked at the process of implementation rather than at outcomes, which gives a steer as to what may help and hinder the process.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mindfulness in Schools Project (MiSP) curricula are among the most researched school-based mindfulness programmes in the world.
